It's Leslie here, reading your blog from my home in wintry Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. You've created a beautifully colourful poster for this activity -good for you!!
And I'm very impressed that you've learned about reusing, reducing and recycling through your school. That's so important!!!
I agree with you that reducing the use of plastic in our world is a good way of reducing the danger to life in our oceans, and to animal and bird life around our continents too. When my husband and I go grocery shopping we take reusable fabric bags and our laundry baskets. The baskets are easy to load and carry and they make it easy for us to unpack the groceries in our kitchen. The bags are light and they make it easy for us to carry things downstairs to our basement, if we need to. We haven't taken plastic bags from stores for years.
Are there things your family does to try to live carefully on the earth? Perhaps you use a composter for your kitchen waste? We have a big wooden composter in our yard and it takes our vegetable and fruit scraps and, over a few months, turns them into fertile soil that we can put on our gardens. It's fantastic how well our gardens grow with compost added to them!!
I hope you're having fun being outside this summer doing your favourite summer time things! And I hope you'll keep working hard at these activities. You're doing a super job!!
