It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from my home in Canada where the Arctic Tundra actually exists!
I don't live in the tundra, I live in southern Canada. But we're in the middle of our winter and sometimes we feel like we must be in the arctic, rather than in the southern part of the country. Today the temperature outside was -30 C. Brrrr...that's cold!! Have you ever been in a country with this kind of winter weather?
Your letter to your aunty is lovely. Well done! You told her that the temperatures are low and that there aren't the trees that you would find in New Zealand. So true! My husband has travelled through the tundra and he was amazed by how different it is from where we live too. The tundra can look very empty but, in the short summer it experiences, there are actually many many flowers that bloom and there are small rodents and other animals that skitter about. The tundra comes alive in the summer!
Perhaps one day you'll have a chance to visit our country and visit the tundra yourself. Until then, I hope you'll keep working at these activities. You're doing a wonderful job!!
